The Stockholm District Court (Stockholms tingsrätt) rejected the Defence’s request as it found no legal remedies in Swedish law for approving the claims for discontinuation of the preliminary investigation, based on a violation of the suspects’ human rights to a judicial review within a reasonable time, noting however that it should be the task of the Supreme Court (Högsta domstolen) to ensure that Swedish law respects the European Convention on Human Rights.
